My Life Secret and Afraid (2000) A tabletop vertical box with angled top lens using a movable louver shutter. The light source is a 120 watt incandescent spotlight at the base of the piece; this bulb also illuminates the slide strip and Cibachrome print presented at the “back” of the piece, behind ash doors with found object handles. Other features include (on back), a brass mail slot, a multi-wood panel (which can be removed for changing bulbs), and an illuminated lens with slide within it. The “front” of this piece is painted (black) birch veneer plywood, with a multi-wood strip running vertically; the sides are black velvet, with black painted vents at the base. Size: 12 in.
